Cultural Sensitivity

Please understand that our  website contains images, voices and names of persons who have passed away.

Also, our site uses the terms “Indigenous” and “First Nations” interchangeably and collectively to refer to “Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander”. We acknowledge that these collective terms subsume the rich diversity and multiplicity of community groups, with their own unique ways of knowing, being and doing, tribes, clans, languages, cultures and traditions. We use these terms in keeping with widespread understanding, where quoted, for clarity of expression, and when making comparisons with non-Indigenous people.

Our site is underpinned by the values published in the Code of Ethics for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Research (“The AIATSIS Code 2020”) and our own spirit for culturally respectful practices in online communications.
